The Reginald J. Phoenix Fund, Inc. is excited to announce a new community partnership with the San Diego Sockers. The alliance will co-host the new RJP “You Can Do It” Sockers Charity Golf Classic. This collaboration will bring together the best of both organizations, combining resources and expertise to create an unforgettable event for golfers and supporters alike.
The partnership was born out of a mutual desire to enhance each organization’s annual golf tournament and maximize the proceeds for the charity. The Sockers have participated in the RJP Scholarship Fund Tournament the past two years through the popular Sockers Community Golf Tournament Program. During the 2022 RJP Scholarship Fund event, both parties recognized the potential for growth by partnering with each other. Together, the two organizations will be able to offer more sponsorships and accommodate a full field of 144 golfers, drawing from their respective pools of participants.
Sockers General Manager Sean Bowers expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, “We are thrilled to join forces with the Reginald J. Phoenix Scholarship Fund for a new annual Charity Golf Classic. This collaboration will not only allow us to expand our reach and impact, but also create a more enjoyable and memorable experience for all tournament participants. We look forward to working together and making a difference in our community.”
RJP Scholarship Fund is a nonprofit corporation organized and operated exclusively for charitable purposes. This year, our goal is to raise funds for the Reginald Phoenix Youth Fellowship Summer Employment Program, (posthumously named for his dedication to our youth) through the Neighborhood House Association (NHA). The Reginald Phoenix Youth Fellowship Summer Employment Program is an innovative youth/ young adult career development program designed to serve high school and college students for developing future leaders. The RJP Scholarship Fund Board is excited to continue Reginald’s vision and legacy by supporting the hiring of interns and enhancing their career development opportunities. We look forward to a successful collaboration with the San Diego Sockers.
The RJP “You Can Do It” Sockers Charity Golf Classic will take place at the beautiful Mt. Woodson Golf Course in Ramona, CA on Friday, December 1, 2023 with a 9:00 a.m. tee time. Complete tournament registration and partnership information will be released on July 1.
